Alana Kretschmaier, OD
Dr. Alana Kretschmaier earned her bachelor’s degree in vision science and Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. She completed her undergraduate education at Arcadia University in Pennsylvania, where she graduated as a dual major in biology and chemistry. Dr. Kretschmaier is originally from Belarus, she moved to Philadelphia area at age 10 and she is fluent speaking in Russian.
Dr. Kretschmaier’s clinical training focused on ocular disease, pediatric examination and contact lens fitting. During her advanced tract pediatric externship at The Eye Institute of Philadelphia, she diagnosed and treated ocular conditions in pediatric patients. While at Einstein Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Kretschmaier focused on corneal disease and ocular pathology, including treatment of glaucoma and macular degeneration. Her professional awards include American Optometric Association grant, CLCS student/resident grant, and International Vision Expo stipend award.
Dr. Kretschmaier joined Simon Eye Associates in July 2013. She currently resides in West Chester, PA with her husband. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, outdoor sports and spending time with her family.
